Corrosion inhibitors for multi-coat paint system

Corrosion is the worst enemy of buildings and civil engineering installations. Carbonatization, salts, sulfur, rain and percolating water, or aggressive atmospheres, attack steel girders and concrete and can have a significantly limiting effect on service lifetimes. Designers and builders put enormous emphasis on protecting their constructions from the processes caused by oxidation. The solutions they apply invariably take the form of multi-coat paint systems. And Cognis supplies the appropriate corrosion inhibitor for the formulation.

Combined with zinc phosphate, Alcophor® 827 constitutes a highly effective corrosion inhibitor in both waterborne and solvent systems. Alcophor® 827 increases the anti-corrosive effects of pigments forming protective layers in anodic zones. Due to its extremely low water solubility, it improves the stability of the anti-corrosive coatings in which it is incorporated while exhibiting excellent dispersibility and anti-sedimentation behavior.
